The wartime leader met Joe Biden in the White House, Washington; it was their first meeting outside after the Russian invasion. Instead of a suit, Zelensky wore green cargo pants and a sweatshirt when he was taken to the White House, where Biden and his wife Jill met him. Then Biden led him past doors that had security holding the US and Ukrainian flags.
Zelensky is making his first trip outside of his country since Russia seized it 300 days ago. Prior to his speech before a joint meeting of Congress on Wednesday night in the US Capitol, Zelensky met with Biden at the White House.

The U.S. and Ukraine will continue to present a united defence against Russia as it launches a brutal assault on Ukraine’s right to exist as a nation, Vice President Biden said as he welcomed Mr. Zelensky to the Oval Office. Since Russia invaded his country in February, Mr. Zelensky has made only one known trip abroad. He claimed that because of his support, the situation is now under control.
When questioned about how Ukraine intended to resolve the conflict, Mr. Zelensky rejected Mr. Biden’s definition of a just peace, stating that for me as president, a just peace means no compromises. He asserted that the conflict would stop if Ukraine regained its territorial integrity, freedom, and sovereignty, as well as u201cpayback for all the damages inflicted by Russian aggression.u201d How will this meeting impact war?
