States are taking a number of actions in response to concerns about the Omicron variant’s potential spread, which has led to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases in China, including increasing testing, genome sequencing of positive samples, ordering local authorities to be on alert, and advising COVID-appropriate behavior. Here are some of the actions taken by the states:
    KARNATAKA:
The state administration on Thursday issued regulations requiring the wearing of face masks inside and in enclosed areas such as bars, restaurants, shopping centres, workplaces, buses, and trains. Everyone who exhibits signs of a respiratory disease has been advised to separate themselves and get checked right away. Officials have been told to hurry up with the booster shot.
    Kerela:
Health Minister Veena George said all districts have been instructed to increase surveillance following a high-level meeting of officials. Increased testing would take place, and positive cases would undergo genetic sequencing. She declared that Christmas and New Year’s celebrations would not be impeded in any way.
    Maharashtra:
CM Shinde examined the state’s COVID problem. He gave orders to all guardian ministers to see that the health facilities in their particular areas were prepared. He gave the Chief Secretary instructions to see to it that the five-point COVID-appropriate behaviour programu2014test, track, treat, and immunizeu2014is followed.
