Buffalo, New York, was slammed by the storm’s full intensity, with hurricane-force winds generating whiteout conditions. The international airport in the city was closed, and emergency response activities were also paralysed.
Officials have cited the winter storm’s various repercussions, such as exposure, car accidents, falling tree limbs, and other causes of mortality. About three people in the Buffalo region passed away, including two who had home medical emergencies.
Local Buffalo residents were compelled to leave their homes and seek out places with heat as a result of the heavy snowfall, single-digit temperatures, and power outages.
Buffalo Niagara International Airport will be closed until Monday morning, according to New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and nearly all of Buffalo’s fire trucks are stuck in the snow.
According to Hochul, who was quoted by AP, no matter how many emergency vehicles we have, they cannot get through the conditions as we speak.
