The terrorists were moving towards Kashmir in a truck when security forces followed and stopped the vehicle near Sidhra checkpoint. When the police started searching the truck, terrorists opened heavy fire from the inside.The intense firing between the two sides lasted for over 45 minutes, during which several explosions apparently caused by hurling of grenades were also heard. Smoke was seen blowing from the truck, loaded with husk, and was completely damaged in the gunfight. The truck driver however, managed to escape the spot.The encounter was first reported by the residents who woke up to the sounds of five to six grenade blasts followed by a heavy exchange of fire.
