A catering company provided meals for the event on Thursday, and sources who attended the event reported that about 190 people took the food. They nearly all experienced vomiting and diarrhoea. However, 70 patients with severe stomach disorders and extensive vomiting were taken to the hospital. While serving meals at two additional locations on the same day in Parumala in Pathanamthitta itself, the food catering unit informed media representatives that there were no complaints.
