According to Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, India will supply 25% of the world’s fuel consumption by 2040 and achieve 20% ethanol blending in gasoline by 2025.
    Puri said that the government’s amended objective is to reach 20% ethanol blending in gasoline from 2030 to 2025u201326, a rise in ethanol blending in gasoline from 1.53% in 2013u201314 to 10.17% in 2022. 
    According to him, India increased the number of its crude oil suppliers from 27 in the 2006u20132007 fiscal year to 39 in the 2021u201322 fiscal year. He attributed the increase to the addition of new suppliers like Columbia, Russia, Libya, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea, while India strengthened its ties with nations like the US and Russia.
    The federal minister stated that five 2G ethanol biorefineries are also being built by the government in Panipat (Parali), Haryana; Bathinda, Punjab; Bargarh (Parali), Odisha; Numaligarh (Bamboo), Assam; and Devangere, Karnataka.
    The petroleum minister provided details on E20 fuel and mentioned that the gradual distribution of E20 fuel would begin on April 1, 2023. Ethanol makes up 20% of the E20 fuel, which contains 80% fossil-based fuel. E20 fuel will soon be available, and its launch seeks to reduce both reliance on fossil fuels and vehicle emissions, the official said. 
    Puri stated that by 2025 and 2030, respectively, the government plans to increase India’s exploration acreage to 0.5 million sq. km. He pointed out that the government has successfully opened up.91 million square kilometres of land by reducing the no go area by 99%.
