Former Punjabi finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal left the Congress on Wednesday afternoon only minutes before joining the Bhartiya Janata Party. Soon after Manpreet joined the party, Piyush Goyal, a union minister, welcomed him at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

Manpreet Badal, the nephew of Parkash Singh Badal, a former chief minister and pillar of the Akali movement, served as the province of Punjab’s finance minister during both the Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP administration from 2007 to 2011 and the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress administration from 2017 to 22. Manpreet Singh left the SAD in 2011 and launched the People’s Party of Punjab. He ran for Lok Sabha in 2014 with support from the Congress, and then in 2016, he joined the party. He was elected as a Congress MLA from the Bathinda Urban Assembly segment; however, he utterly failed in the Punjab elections of 2022.India has strengthened its position in the world through diplomacy under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
