Sunak and Labour leader Keir Starmer are fighting for the reputation of a capable manager in a hopeless moment, despite the fact that Sunak has little time to deliver enough soon.
In his inaugural speech of 2023, Sunak outlined his plan to advance British science, technology, and education while valuing hard work, family, and coworkers. His degree of ambiguity revealed that setting measurable targets always carries political risk, but he nonetheless promised to cut inflation by half, lower the national debt, grow the economy, decrease waiting times for health care services, and stop illegal immigration in his remaining months in office.
Living expenses will likely be a big problem during Sunak’s premiership. This is a top priority for him because he is aware that rising prices are one of the main issues now affecting citizens. Growing the economy is something all governments try to do, and Sunak hopes that by next year, the country will be over the worst of the current recession. Politically, will electors feel better off when the next election comes round? After such a difficult period for so many, that is going to be hard to achieve. Inflation will continue to be a major issue for individuals who will be paying larger mortgage payments due to rising interest rates, even though some people think it may have peaked and the Bank of England anticipates a decline by the middle of the year. Sunak thinks it’s crucial for Conservatives to regain economic credibility after the recent turbulence. The question is whether he will be able to deliver and by when.

Defending the National Health Service (NHS) against accusations that the government is not paying enough attention to it is Sunak’s responsibility. NHS reform cannot be completed fast due to waiting lists and other demands. Sunak thus restricted himself to developing a step-by-step strategy to shorten wait times. Sunak suggests remaining steadfast in the face of the current wave of public sector strikes, which have drawn sympathy for nurses and ambulance drivers but not for railway workers. According to Sunak, when combined with the advantages of the Health and Care Act, 2022, the government’s recommendation for nurses from the independent pay review board of 4% to 5% will be higher than the 19% that nurses are asking for.
