Speaking at a gathering in Guwahati, Sarma asserted that women should have children between the ages of 22 and 30. Sarma advised women approaching 30 to get married soon, adding that if the women followed his advice, it would be good for both them and the child.The chief minister was discussing the state’s efforts to lower the mortality rate for new moms and infants. He claims that a high proportion of mother and infant deaths is one of the reasons for early marriage and conception before the appropriate age.We are pursuing legal action against people who pressure young women into becoming mothers.
