The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the 615-acre facility in 2016 and it will first produce Light Utility Helicopters (LUH).According to them, it will allow India to completely satisfy its helicopter needs without importing them and will give the Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in helicopter design, development, and manufacture the much-needed boost it needs.
    Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence as well as Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai and the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present. According to Rajnath Singh, It is a dedicated new greenfield helicopter factory that will improve India’s capacity and ecosystem to construct helicopters. The LUH, which has been flight tested, was introduced by PM Modi.
    The LUH is an indigenously designed and developed three-tonne class, single-engine multipurpose utility helicopter. Initially, the factory will produce around 30 helicopters per year and can be enhanced to 60 and then 90 every year in a phased manner, according to the Defence Ministry. To construct additional helicopters including Light Combat Helicopters (LCHs) and Indian Multirole Helicopters(IMRHs) , the factory will be expanded . In the future, it will also be used for LCH, LUH, Civil Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), and IMRH maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

    This factory, which is being outfitted with cutting-edge Industry 4.0 standard tools and processes for its operations, will also cater to potential exports of civil LUH, according to officials. It was stated that the factory’s proximity to the current HAL facilities in Bengaluru will strengthen the area’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and help the growth of local educational institutions, colleges, and residential areas, among other infrastructural and skill-related projects.
    The installation of facilities such as the heli-runway, flight hangar, final assembly hangar, structure assembly hangar, air traffic control, and various supporting service facilities, according to officials, has made the factory fully operational. The prime minister will also lay the cornerstone for Tumakuru Industrial Township in addition to this. This development, which spans 8,484 acres and is a component of the Chennai Bengaluru Industrial Corridor, was undertaken as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme. Additionally, Modi will officially launch two Jal Jeevan Mission projects in Tumakuru’s Tiptur and Chikkanayakanahalli.
    Over Rs 430 crores will be spent on the Tiptur Multi-Village Drinking Water Supply Project. Contrarily, a multi-village water supply plan for 147 homes in the Chikkanayakanahlli taluk would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 115 crores.  The projects will facilitate the provision of clean drinking water for the people of the region.
