While Messi and Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain headlined the FIFA World Cup final in December, Real Madrid forward Benzema led the La Liga giants to a record-extending 14th European title in the previous season of the UEFA Champions League.
An esteemed jury panel had previously chosen 14 players for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award. Argentina captain Messi, French forward Mbappe, and Ballon d’Or winner Benzmea are the remaining three finalists chosen by an international jury comprised of men’s national team coaches, captains, football journalists, and fans voting on FIFA’s official website.

Who will win the FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award: Benzema, Mbappe, or Messi?
Benzema is not the overwhelming favourite to lift the famous FIFA trophy in Paris, despite winning the Ballon d’Or award after a spectacular season with Real Madrid last year. Due to an injury, the 35-year-old missed the FIFA World Cup in 2022. PSG forward Mbappe led the French attack in the absence of Benzema, guiding Les Bleus (The Blues) to the FIFA World Cup final. Mbappe won the Golden Boot award at the Qatar World Cup after scoring eight goals. However, Mbappe’s France were outclassed by Messi’s Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final. Messi, who has scored in the World Cup in his teens, twenties, and thirties, was awarded the Golden Ball at the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
