In an interview with The Indian Express, Jadeja discussed the memes and trolling he faced after being injured.
These trolls, according to Jadeja, have no idea how much effort we put in or the sacrifices we made to get to this point. He went on to say that they are simply idle people who sit in front of a computer and write garbage or create memes.
Computer ke saamne fukre log baithte rehte hain, meme banate rehte hain aur kuchh bhi likhte rehte hain… See honestly, those things don’t matter to me. If they had, I would not have gotten this far… They have no idea what I had to go through to get here, Jadeja said, according to the Indian Express.
He stated that he constantly hears people say that because a player is playing IPL and earning big money, they are not serious about playing for India, but they forget that we are not paid just by our faces and that if we do not perform, no one will pay a penny to have us in their teams.
They say he’s playing IPL and making a lot of money… Believe me, they don’t pick you based on your face in the IPL, Jadeja concluded.
Being a cricketer in India is difficult because more than a billion people will have an opinion on what you do.
This is why Indian cricketers should emulate Jadeja’s approach to dealing with anonymous trolls who hide behind social media accounts and spew nonsense about individuals.
