Gautam Adani, the richest entrepreneur in India, has described how he miraculously escaped from the Taj Hotel during the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks in November 2008.
Adani recalled the incident for India TV’s Aap Ki Adalat, which aired on Saturday. He said that when he learned that the Hotel Taj, one of the targets of Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, was being attacked, he was attending a business meeting there with friends who reside in Dubai. Adani admitted that he even witnessed the terrorists who broke into the hotel.
I had just finished a meeting with some of my friends who had travelled from Dubai to Mumbai. I had just finished paying the hotel’s expenses and was about to leave when a few of my pals urged me to schedule some additional meetings. We had just finished our dinner when I made the decision to remain in the restaurant, according to Adani.
Later, we began the meeting with a cup of coffee, Adani continued. I discovered afterwards that the hotel was being attacked. The hotel personnel led me to the kitchen through a back entrance after a short while.
Adani said, Sometimes I wonder if I had walked to the lobby after paying the bill, I could have been caught in the attack.
On November 26, 2008, 166 people were killed and over 300 were injured in one of the most horrifying terrorist attacks in the nation’s history as 10 heavily armed terrorists from Pakistan wreaked havoc in Mumbai.
