Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt scored unbeaten half-centuries to win the match with more than five overs to spare. After watching RCB struggle in the inaugural season of the WPL, fans quickly began comparing RCB’s women’s team to their men’s team and began trending ‘haaRCB’ on social media.
Some of the comparisons were justified, as RCB’s women’s team has multiple match winners, including Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, and Heather Knight, but they are unable to produce the results that are expected of them.
RCB have now lost both of their opening games, and they are almost in a position where they cannot afford to lose any more games if they want to remain in contention for the playoffs.
