After the recent acquisition of WarnerMedia by Reliance Industries, the focus has now shifted to JioCinema, the streaming platform owned by Reliance Jio. With the aim to become a leader in the Indian streaming market, JioCinema is now focusing on local content and competitive pricing.
JioCinema, which was launched in 2016, is a free streaming platform exclusively available to Jio subscribers. With the recent acquisition of WarnerMedia, the platform has gained access to a vast library of Hollywood content, including popular TV shows like Friends and The Big Bang Theory, as well as blockbuster movies like The Dark Knight and Wonder Woman.
However, to compete with established players like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, JioCinema is now shifting its focus to local content. The platform has already signed deals with top Indian production houses like Balaji Telefilms and Eros Now and is planning to release several original shows and movies in the coming months.Source:- MSN
We believe that Indian consumers are looking for quality local content that they can relate to, said a spokesperson for JioCinema. With our focus on local content and competitive pricing, we believe that JioCinema can become the go-to destination for Indian streaming audiences.
JioCinema has also announced a new pricing strategy that is aimed at attracting more subscribers. While the platform will still be free for Jio subscribers, non-Jio users will now be able to access JioCinema content for a nominal fee of Rs. 49 per month. This is significantly lower than the monthly subscription fees charged by Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, which range from Rs. 199 to Rs. 999.
We want to make quality entertainment accessible to everyone, said the spokesperson. Our new pricing strategy is aimed at making JioCinema affordable for everyone so that more people can enjoy the best of Hollywood and Indian content.
With its focus on local content and competitive pricing, JioCinema is poised to become a major player in the Indian streaming market. As the battle for streaming dominance heats up, it will be interesting to see how other players like Netflix and Amazon respond to this new challenge from JioCinema.
