The Congress decided not to do so inside its own structure during the Raipur plenary, which was held between February 24 and 26 despite all the talk about restoring democracy and constitutionality in the country. Attendees reported that there was a dejected atmosphere and that those who had wanted to elect members to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) had been outplayed.Following two steps ahead via the BJY, the great old party went one step back.

In the three Northeastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura, the party claimed these were minor states that follow the trend of backing the Union government after a disastrous showing in which it won just eight out of 180 seats. Even if this is partially true, the Congress would be foolish to forgo spending money on campaigning in an area with 25 Lok Sabha seats (Assam included).Gandhi, who serves as the face of the party while Mallikarjun Kharge manages organisational duties, made one trip to Meghalaya that garnered attention for his criticism of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Gandhi was featured in the press around the same period, according to claims that claimed to have captured him skiing in Kashmir’s Gulmarg. This was terrible form for any serious politician after the BJY’s victory and brought back memories of Gandhi’s earlier days when he would briefly fade from the public eye.

The Congress should reconsider before claiming that the parties that split the opposition vote are the B-team of the BJP since opposition unity is unlikely to be a perfect strategy. Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), has stated that he will only work with the Rashtriya Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh, in addition to West Bengal. He hasn’t yet indicated a desire to work with the Congress, but that could change if the national party triumphs in the state elections later this year.
