    The 23-year-old woman had a bright future and was studying in the US as part of a student exchange program. She was killed when a police car being driven by officer Kevin Dave struck her while she was crossing the street. 
    The loss of their cherished daughter, who was beyond any dollar value to them, and the cop’s callousness toward her death, which occurred about eight months ago, have crushed the family back home.
    Outrage over the occurrence has been expressed in both India and the US. On Thursday, protesters from diverse communities gathered in Seattle to denounce the police for not prosecuting the two negligent officers.

    The Biden administration has promised Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Indian ambassador to the US who raised the issue at the highest level, that the case will be handled quickly. The university Jaahnavi attended has made the touching decision to grant her a master’s degree posthumously.
    George Floyd, a Black man, was killed by a White police officer in the US, which sparked the #blacklivesmatter rallies against racial injustice and police brutality in 2020. Jaahnavi is deserving of justice, just as Floyd was after receiving outstanding treatment from his killer.
