The Allahabad High Court has reserved its decision on the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament, Sanjay Singh. Singh had sought bail in a case related to alleged financial irregularities and money laundering connected to the Delhi Liquor Policy. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Singh in October 2023, accusing him of being involved in the purported scandal, which led to substantial financial losses to the government.

During the hearing, Singh’s counsel argued that the allegations against him were baseless and politically motivated. The defense emphasized that Singh had no role in the formulation or implementation of the Delhi Liquor Policy and that the accusations were an attempt to tarnish his political career. They also highlighted Singh’s clean record and cooperation with the investigation, urging the court to grant him bail on these grounds.

On the other hand, the ED’s counsel opposed the bail plea, arguing that Singh was a key figure in the alleged money laundering activities. They claimed that Singh had conspired with other individuals to facilitate the irregularities and had received financial benefits from the policy. The ED also expressed concerns that Singh might tamper with evidence or influence witnesses if released on bail.

After hearing both sides, the High Court decided to reserve its judgment, which means the decision will be delivered at a later date. The case has garnered significant attention due to its political implications and the involvement of high-profile figures. Singh’s supporters argue that the case is a vendetta against the AAP, while the prosecution maintains that it is a legitimate action against corruption.

The date for the final decision has not been announced, leaving Sanjay Singh’s legal fate hanging in the balance.
