    It is clear that the US and Canada are not doing enough to crush religious secessionists when the Indian embassy in San Francisco is attacked for the second time in less than four months and supporters of Khalistan announce ‘freedom’ protests in Berkeley and Toronto. The same is true for Australia and the UK, which have recently also seen anti-Indian rallies.
    India has urged its partner countries, including Canada, the UK, Australia, and the US, to deny space to Khalistanis in light of the worrying events. S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, is correct when he says, These radical extremist ideologies aren’t good for us, them, or our ties.

    These countries have had no qualms about allowing secessionists and other India-baiters to take advantage of their nefarious asylum rules during the past thirty years or more. These individuals have been empowered by the authorities’ laxity to defame India at will. But India has now made it obvious that enough is enough and has put its foot down. 
    The onus is on Canada and other nations to evaluate their asylum policies and control the troublemakers; otherwise, their acts will negatively affect bilateral relations and represent a serious security concern in the countries where they have been adopted.
