The Sports Minister was alluding to the Supreme Court’s decision on Thursday to dismiss the women wrestlers’ plea, stating the request for an FIR against Wrestling Federation of India president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been granted.
Meanwhile, around 500 farmers and khap leaders from bordering states gathered at Jantar Mantar to show their solidarity for the wrestlers who have been causing a commotion for the past 12 days. Supporters from Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh have resolved to establish a 24-hour langar here.
The food will be made here. We’re also asking for donations of oil, rice, grains, and vegetables, said Gopal Tiwari, a protestor in this town.

Political leaders’ visitOn Friday, Delhi Congress head Anil Chaudhary also paid a visit to the protest location to show support for the wrestlers. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was attempting to shield the WFI chairman, as evidenced by Mr. Modi’s unwillingness to speak with the wrestlers who have been on dharna here.
PM Modi has insulted the Hanuman bhakt wrestlers only to protect Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, against whom the wrestlers have leveled serious sexual assault, molestation, and harassment charges, Mr. Kumar stated.
If this is the fate of highly accomplished wrestlers who have brought honor to the country, what will be the fate of others who have raised similar allegations? Mr. Kumar asked.
Congress leaders Kumari Selja and Kiran Choudhry also paid a visit and expressed their solidarity with the wrestlers.
