Kejriwal, who has been a central figure in Delhi’s political landscape for over a decade, stated that his resignation was driven by challenges that hindered his governance. He highlighted the constant conflicts with the central government and the limitations of the Delhi government’s power, especially regarding matters like law enforcement and public services. Kejriwal lamented that despite the best efforts of his administration, these obstacles were insurmountable under the current political framework.

However, Kejriwal was optimistic about the future, vowing to continue his fight for full statehood for Delhi. He believes that the people of Delhi understand the systemic issues that have been obstructing his government’s progress and trusts that they will support him in his quest to bring about fundamental changes.
He ended his resignation announcement by urging Delhiites to remain hopeful, stating, “I am stepping down today, but I will be back, stronger and more determined, with your support.” Kejriwal’s departure sets the stage for a possible election, where he aims to secure a mandate that will enable him to implement the policies he believes are necessary for Delhi’s development without interference.
