A White House spokesman declared, “There’s no excuse for violence, certainly (not) based on race, gender, or religion.” After being publicly humiliated for ignoring Israel’s relentless attack on Gaza, the US must at least provide evidence to support its assertions that it promotes diversity and liberalism at home.
In recent years, there has been an extraordinary influx of Indian immigrants to the US. The number of Indian students studying in the US increased by 35% during the 2022–2023 academic year, and this year it is expected to surpass the number of Chinese students.

The six students of Indian descent who have passed away since the year’s beginning, however, are concerned. In one example, where the victim was fortunate enough to leave unharmed, overt racism or targeting was discovered.
Newly arrived Indians need to exercise caution in a country where there is a strong gun culture and being a gangster is considered a “career option” in certain circles. In addition, some US residents do indeed harbour a slow-burning animosity for individuals who don’t look like white people or African Americans.

After repeated incidents of hate crimes against Sikhs, the mayor of New York City was forced to declare last year that “turban does not mean terrorism.” According to FBI figures, hate crimes in 2022 reached a peak not seen since 2001. Since the White House is cognizant of the tremendous contribution Indian immigrants have made to the US economy and politics, it must extend its mandate beyond shielding individuals like Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who India has identified as a terrorist.
