The Aam Aadmi Party, or AAP, said the BJP tried to seize control of the civic body by voting a BJP leader to the mayor’s seat, leading to three postponements of the mayor election in more than two months. In the December election for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, or MCD, the AAP had received a significant margin of victory against the BJP.
The AAP objected and the house turned into turmoil when the council members, or aldermen, selected by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena attempted to cast ballots in the most recent election. Finally, there was another delay in the election. According to the BJP, led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the aldermen would have increased their numbers.

The Supreme Court ruled today that the deputy mayor election can only be place following the mayor’s election. It must be emphasised that the meetings will be run by the mayor after election (for the subsequent elections). The mayor should be chosen first, though. The gatherings to elect the deputy shall subsequently be presided over by the mayor DY Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of India, remarked.
The Supreme Court’s ruling, according to Mr. Kejriwal’s tweet, confirmed how the Lieutenant Governor and the BJP have been passing illegal orders in Delhi, a Union Territory. The decision of the Supreme Court is good for democracy. The Supreme Court is greatly appreciated. After 2.5 months, Delhi will finally have a mayor. In Delhi, it has now been demonstrated that the Lieutenant Governor and the BJP are working together to pass unlawful and unconstitutional orders In his tweets, Mr. Kejriwal twitted in Hindi.
The AAP emerged as the clear winner in the MCD polls in December, winning 134 wards and ending the BJP’s 15-year rule in the civic body. The BJP won 104 wards to finish second, while the Congress won nine seats.
