In a last-minute move, Jasprit Bumrah has been added to India’s three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka beginning January 10. Prior to the Asia Cup, Bumrah, India’s top pacer, was initially sidelined due to a stress fracture in his back. However, he appears to have fully recovered after taking some time off and receiving extensive rehabilitation at the NCA. Bumrah was left out of India’s squad for the Sri Lanka series in the last week of December, according to reports, because the BCCI was not interested in hastening the pacer’s return. However, the significant news on Tuesday afternoon suggests that the board and team management are pleased with the 28-year-old’s progress and want to get him back as soon as possible in a World Cup year.

The bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been included in India’s ODI team for the forthcoming Mastercard 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, according to a BCCI release. Bumrah has not played in a cricket match since September 2022, and a back ailment prevented him from competing in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The National Cricket Academy has deemed the bowler fit after he underwent rehabilitation (NCA). He’ll soon be a member of the Team India ODI team. It is unclear, though, whether Bumrah will be reinserted into the starting lineup right away. If he has been added to the squad, he should ideally play, but whether or not he does so from the opening kickoff will be a matter for discussion with the captain.
The updated Indian team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka includes: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel.
