Pujara then responded brilliantly to Ashwin, sparking a hilarious Twitter exchange between the two. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Ashwin was one of India’s most important difference-makers.
With 25 wickets, the offspinner finished the series as the series’ leading wicket-taker. He was also named co-Player of the Series, along with Ravindra Jadeja, who took the second-most wickets in the series with 22.
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Ashwin discussed his relationship with Jadeja and how the two help each other on the field. It’s been a fantastic journey. We (himself and Jadeja) started a long time ago, but neither of us would be the same or as lethal without the other.

We must recognise this; at least, I have begun to recognise this in the last 2-3 years. He gives me a lot of leeway with the ball, and I thought he bowled beautifully in the Delhi Test as well, which is why we’re here today, he said after the game.
In the series, Pujara reached the historic milestone of 100 Tests for India, a feat not shared by many in the game.
