Additionally, there has been significant progress made by both parties in the direction of establishing diplomatic relations.India should be extremely cautious about the China-Bhutan amity.

    A recent Pentagon assessment claims that China elevated communities in Bhutan’s disputed territory last year and constructed underground storage facilities close to Doklam. After the Chinese military began constructing a road along the Siliguri Corridor, often known as Chicken Neck, which connects the Northeast to the rest of India, there was a violent standoff at the Doklam trijunction in 2017. 
    India has voiced a strong objection, citing security concerns, which forced China to abandon its plan. Beijing has been making a concerted effort to appease Thimphu in recent years and has developed a three-step plan to resolve the boundary dispute.China asserts that it respects Bhutan’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, yet its expansionist intentions are undeniably clear from its military posture in the region.

    In sharp contrast to its strategy of keeping Indian troops on their toes along the Line of Actual Control, China is fervently trying to patch things up with Bhutan. China has been unreasonable in its insistence on severing the complex boundary dispute from bilateral relations with India during the protracted conflict in eastern Ladakh. Beijing desires for the border conflict to worsen in order to demonstrate its military might and forcefully remind India of the humiliation it suffered in 1962. Bhutan should be aggressively contacted by India to warn it about the dangers of providing a red carpet for China.
