Following a recent outbreak in China and numerous other countries, which is thought to be the deadliest in the pandemic’s three years, India has refocused on the Covid-19 virus. The Center has asked residents to act in a manner that is consistent with Covid, such as by wearing masks and keeping their distance. Measures have been taken to prevent any infection surge since the holiday season is currently in full swing. Karnataka has mandated masks in these establishments, as well as commanded that New Year’s celebrations halt at 1am in pubs, clubs, and movie theatres.
On Tuesday, practise drills were conducted at hospitals and healthcare facilities around the country, and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya paid a visit to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. He also convened a conference with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) members, whereby doctors and other medical professionals pushed him to allow individuals to receive a second booster dose. A significant portion of the country’s population has yet to take the booster dose, according to government data.

He is asymptomatic and has been segregated at home in the Shahganj neighbourhood of Agra, while a sample of his blood was sent to Lucknow to be sequenced to determine the variation. The BF.7 variant of Covid-19, which is the primary driver of the recent outbreak in China, was already detected in India earlier. Four persons who contracted the variant – a sub lineage of Omicron BA.5 – in September and November, have since recovered.
