Given that the surveillance and reporting system is still in its infancy, there may be more cases than are reported. The new infections are thought to be brought on by XBB.1.16, also known as Arcturus, a subtype of the Omicron virus.
The fact that HPV is not particularly virulent and the infections are not particularly serious is a source of some relief. But difficulties constantly exist in every variation. According to reports, the World Health Organisation is keeping an eye on how the variation is spreading in India.
To address the new scenario, the administration has begun to mobilise its resources. In order to evaluate and confirm correct plans for patient testing and treatment in hospitals, mock drills have been organised around the nation.
In a meeting with state health ministers, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia made decisions to identify emergency hotspots, expand testing and vaccinations, and assure hospital infrastructure readiness. The Centre has instructed all states and UTs to get started improving genome sequencing and speeding up testing right away.

The majority of people in the nation are immunised, and many have received their second dosage. Due to previous diseases and immunisations, the community has a high level of immunity. Therefore, there is no risk that the current diseases will spread rapidly and pose a significant threat to the public’s health.
But with any health concern, it’s important to exercise caution and be ready, especially when a virus like the Covid-19 virus is to blame for the illness. Reverting to the Covid regimen may be necessary, which calls for public mask wear. Seniors and people with co-morbid conditions should take extra precautions. There are many individuals who have not yet taken the third dose. Increased vaccine supplies are required, and a vaccination effort should be conducted to reach the unvaccinated. Without fail, the test, track, treat, and immunise policy should be maintained in order to address the current threat before it worsens.
