    Bedi showed himself to be a soft-spoken master of cunning during a time when the game and the spectators were enthralled with the huge, bulky fast bowlers who wanted to smash batters’ heads off.
    He wasn’t sly at all in his private life. As his junior teammates put it, he loved his teammates more than he loved his parents, and the outpouring of love from all over the world bears witness to that. Bedi shared his art with anyone who would listen, regardless of whether they were players from Pakistan, Australia, or England. He believed in the commonwealth of cricket, the magnificent game he blessed.

One could always count on Bedi to deliver a frank and straightforward statement when discussing matters of sporting morality, such as what was right or wrong in the sport or in the behaviour of its officials.
