Gautam Budh Nagar’s Assistant Excise Commissioner RB Singh said that the sale of liquor in December 2022 alone was 23 per cent more than last year. On the New Year, people partied at 82 other places which were given occasional licence from one day to three days, due to which the revenue has increased and the consumption of liquor has increased a lot.The reason cited behind this is believed to be the effect of the curbs being lifted after two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. The capital too saw the henious crime of a 20-year-old being dragged for about 13 Kms by 5 young men who were driving under the influence of alcohol. They too must have contributed to the revenue but is this the price the government wants to pay for it? Share your views about the increasing consumption of alcohol in the country in the comments below.
