The BRAP rankings, released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), assess states based on the implementation of reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business. Kerala’s recent surge in rankings is a direct result of the government’s focused approach towards simplifying regulatory processes, promoting transparency, and integrating technology into administrative functions. The state has introduced numerous digital platforms and services to streamline business operations, such as the K-SWIFT (Kerala Single Window Interface for Fast and Transparent Clearance) portal, which has significantly reduced the time required for obtaining licenses and approvals.

Minister Rajeeve highlighted several reform measures that have contributed to this advancement. These include the reduction of the regulatory burden on businesses, the introduction of e-governance systems, and the adoption of digital solutions to provide a more conducive environment for businesses. The state has also emphasized the importance of skill development, infrastructure improvement, and fostering innovation to attract investments.

Furthermore, Kerala has made strides in building a supportive ecosystem for startups and small businesses, facilitating a range of incentives, support schemes, and access to credit. These efforts align with the state’s broader objective of driving economic growth through sustainable development and inclusivity.

Kerala’s impressive climb in the BRAP rankings is not just a reflection of its reform-driven approach but also a testament to its commitment to becoming a competitive and preferred investment destination. Moving forward, the state aims to continue its focus on reforming its business environment to attract more investments and drive economic growth.
