Rohit used SKY’s T20I numbers to mask his poor performance in ODIs, claiming that the Mumbai-born cricketer is aware of his shortcomings and will soon triumph. Yes, he got out in the last two games and the series before that, but he needs that consistent run, like back-to-back games, 7-8 or 10 games like that, so he feels more comfortable.
Of course, he knows what he needs to do even in a slightly longer game format. I believe things are present in his mind as well. Like I said, guys with potential will get enough run that they don’t feel like, ‘okay, you know, I wasn’t given enough chances in that particular slot,’ Rohit said in the post-match press conference.
Fans wonder why Sanju Samson has not received the same treatment. Fans slammed the Indian captain for supporting the out-of-form Suryakumar Yadav after the batter bagged two golden ducks in one series, and asked why he did not have the same policy for Sanju Samson.
Some have claimed that he is dismissing Samson’s talent, while others claim that the Kerala batter is being overlooked due to the ‘Mumbai quota,’ as both Rohit and Suryakumar play for Mumbai in domestic cricket as well as the Indian Premier League.
Suryakumar Yadav has played 22 One-Day Internationals for India, while Samson has only played 11 50-over games. Samson has averaged 66 points and scored two half-centuries in 11 games.

Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, has yet to find his ODI mojo despite playing more than twice as many matches as Samson. Suryakumar’s ODI average is 25.47, and he has four single-digit scores in his last seven games.
These figures show that, while Samson did not get a long run in ODIs despite having a good record, Suryakumar Yadav is currently irreplaceable due to his performance in T20Is.
