The French Football Federation (FFF) has filed a complaint with FIFA regarding Antoine Griezmann’s goal that was disallowed at the conclusion of Wednesday’s 1-0 World Cup loss to Tunisia. In the final eighth minute of stoppage time at Education City Stadium, Griezmann hammered in a low shot. A video review led referee Matthew Conger to throw the equaliser out.
Despite claims that the FFF’s statement on Thursday night concentrated on the fact that Conger restarted the game after blowing the final whistle and then consulted VAR and disallowed Griezmann’s goal, it mentioned only that the goal was unfairly refused. When a cross came in, Griezmann was in an offside position, but when he struck into the bottom left corner, it appeared that he had been played back into an onside position after retreating.According to the FFF, it had 24 hours following the conclusion of the game to submit a formal complaint to the organization’s FIFA. No more information was provided.France suffered its first World Cup loss since 2014, as it fell to Germany in the quarterfinals by a score of 1-0.The defending champion France finished first in Group D ahead of Australia on goal differential and will take on Poland in the round of 16 on Sunday.
