The hospitality industry is a popular choice among Indian cricketers. Many legendary cricketers, from Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli, have tried their hand at the restaurant business, but not all of them have succeeded.
Here are five Indian cricketers whose restaurant ventures failed, leaving them with no choice but to close their doors.

    1. Sachin TendulkarSachin Tendulkar, arguably the greatest hitter of all time, partnered with a hotelier in 2002 to open ‘Tendulkar’s,’ a fine-dining restaurant. Following the success of the first location, the ‘Master Blaster’ opened two more locations called ‘Sachin’s’ in Mumbai and Bengaluru. The business was crippled over time, and all of the joints were closed down in 2007.
      1. Sourav GangulyKnown as the ‘Prince of Kolkata,’ Sourav Ganguly started his restaurant business in 2004 with the opening of a four-story multi-cuisine restaurant called ‘Sourav’s Food Pavilion’ on Park Street in one of Kolkata’s most affluent neighborhoods. The restaurant was originally owned by the former India captain. He only charged them a royalty fee for using his name.
        1. Virender SehwagFollowing in the footsteps of his mentor Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag decided to capitalize on his celebrity and opened a restaurant in 2006.In Delhi’s Moti Nagar neighborhood, he opened a vegetarian-only restaurant called ‘Sehwag’s Favorites.’ The store did well in the first few months, but eventually ran out of customers.Sehwag was involved in a squabble with the co-owners, and as a result, the restaurant closed down, and he took the matter to court over cheating allegations.
          1. Ajay JadejaFormer Indian all-rounder Ajay Jadeja has partnered with Diwakar Shastri, grandson of former India Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, to open ‘Senso,’ an Italian restaurant in Delhi.
The restaurant was unable to attract the anticipated number of customers, and after incurring a significant financial loss, they were forced to close.
            1. Virat KohliVirat Kohli currently owns a hugely successful fine-dining restaurant franchise called ‘One 8 Commune,’ which has multiple locations in Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, and Mumbai. However, his venture into the hotel business was not as successful. In 2017, Kohli opened a restaurant called ‘Nueva’ in RK Puram, New Delhi, which was initially a huge success but has since faded.
