In a recent cricket match between two Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir and current Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli were involved in a heated on-field altercation.
The incident took place during the Knight Riders’ innings when Kohli, who was fielding for the Royal Challengers, had a verbal exchange with Gambhir, who was in the dugout as the Knight Riders’ team mentor. The two had a history of on-field clashes during their playing days and this incident added another chapter to their rivalry.
The argument escalated quickly, with both Gambhir and Kohli getting visibly agitated and exchanging heated words. The match umpires had to intervene to separate the two, and Gambhir was eventually asked to leave the dugout by the officials.
This was not the only spicy moment in the match, as there were a few other incidents that added to the excitement. In one instance, Royal Challengers’ pacer Mohammed Siraj and Knight Riders’ all-rounder Andre Russell had a confrontation after the latter hit a boundary off Siraj’s bowling.
Later in the match, Knight Riders’ spinner Sunil Narine was also involved in a heated exchange with Royal Challengers’ wicketkeeper-batsman AB de Villiers, after the former appealed for a caught-behind that was turned down by the umpire.
The match ended with the Royal Challengers winning by 38 runs, but it was the spicy moments on the field that dominated headlines and grabbed the attention of cricket fans across the country.
