Halloween is not a traditional festival in South Korea, but as Seoul has gotten more cosmopolitan and a larger amount of South Koreans have lived overseas and returned, Halloween has increased in popularity.These Halloween celebrations started in South Korea about 2011 and have been going on for over one decade.In recent years, Seoul’s Halloween festivities have been modest due to Covid 19, but this year marks the first Halloween since the easing of social separation.However, a horrific incident shocked everyone.Yoon of South Korea declares a period of mourning after the Halloween Stampede in Seoul killed 153 people and injures many more. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. (1300 GMT). Tens of thousands of people, mostly young people, gathered to celebrate. Halloween in Korea became entrapped and crushed when the mob poured into a tight alley, killing and injuring many others.President Yoon of South Korea declares a nationwide mourning period in response to the disaster. He also extended sympathy to the victims.It is a terrible and heartbreaking occasion because a president is accountable for the lives and safety of the people.As citizens, we can only pray to the Lord.
