In response to the COVID alarm caused by a rise in infections in many nations, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare agreed on Saturday to organise simulated drills at all medical facilities throughout the nation on December 27. This is to guarantee preparation in the event of a spike in COVID cases in India, as well as the availability of oxygen assistance and ICU beds, among other preparedness measures. According to the Ministry, the objective of the exercise is to ensure the operational readiness of these health facilities for the management of COVID.
The main emphasis, according to the description of the criteria during the mock drills, will be on the bed capacity at the medical institutions, including isolation, oxygen-supported, and ICU beds. A high-level meeting to assess the COVID-19 situation in the nation was also presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (December 22). He warned against complacency and emphasised the importance of testing and strengthening the surveillance measures, particularly at international airports.
