The BCCI recently announced the 15-men squad for the Asia Cup 22, starting August 27 in the UAE. The squad looked promising as it saw the return of former captain Virat Kohli, who missed multiple recent tours, including the West Indies tour and the Zimbabwe ODIs due to his injury. He now seems well-rested and ready to take the Asia Cup Challenge. Additionaly, vice-captain KL Rahul is back in the squad too as he regained his fitness.Alhtough a recent shocker came when Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were ruled out from the tournament due to their injuries. Many believe, this is bound to make an impact on the Indian bowling lineup. The fast-pace bowling responsibility will now fall on the newbie Avesh Khan, bowling veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya along with Arshdeep Singh. On the contrary, the selectors picked two spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin and three all-rounders, Ravi Bishnoi, Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Hooda to overlook the spin department. The Indian chief selector, Kiran More, however was not happy with the spin selection of R Ashwin. He added, u201cEven I was surprised. How can R Ashwin even come into the team? And every time. Even in the last World Cup, he was picked in the team and did not perform well. Look at his IPL record, it’s not that good, either. I genuinely feel Shami would’ve been a better choice, or even Axar Patel coudl’ve taken that role. And Axar has bowled really well. Shami is my player and he will go to the World Cup. I want wicket-taking bowlers. Shami can pick wickets with the new ball, in the middle overs, and  evenin the slog overs where the team generally lacks,  Kiran More further added. What do you think of Kiran More’s comment? Do you think Ashwin is a good pick? Leave your comments in the section below.
