The 34-year-old’s dominance in all three formats is why he’s widely regarded as the best hitter of his generation. A native of Delhi, he sets very high standards and is always used as a yardstick to determine if a player has the potential to dominate world cricket.
But Pakistan’s disgraced batsman Khurram Manzoor feels he is the world’s best in 50-over cricket. No one is near him, not even Kohli.
The retired Park hitter, who last played for his home country in 2016, made these lofty claims during his conversation with Nadir Ali on YouTube. To back up his claim, the Karachi right-hander pulled some statistics and claimed that his conversion rate was much better than Kohli.
He argued that while Kohli would score a century every six innings, it would take slightly longer and break the triple-digit mark every six innings.
I don’t compare myself to Virat Kohli. In fact, in his 50-over cricket, whoever is in the top 10, I’m the best in the world. Kohli is next, Manzoor said on YouTube.
u201cWe have better conversion rates than him on List A Cricket. He scores a century every six innings. I score every 5.68 innings. And it ranks fifth in the world in List A cricket, based on an average of 53 over the last ten years. Also in his last 48 innings he scored a 24th century.
I am still the top scorer among the players who started for Pakistan from 2015 to the present. I am also the top scorer and winner of the century in the national T20. Yet I am ignored. And no one gave me a good reason to do so, he added.
Racquets around the world are striving to play at the same level as Cori, but there are not many that can live up to those aspirations.
However, Kori has been the most run-scorer over the years, and it doesn’t hurt that players compare themselves to him. However, everything has its limits. Unashamedly, Manzoor had the courage to compare himself to a cricketer who scored more international centuries than the games he played at the highest level.
