This has raised questions about these parties’ capacity to function as a cohesive unit. Almost ten years after the Congress contributed to the creation of Telangana, these reversals outweighed their first-ever success.
The political climate in which the Congress and its state leaders functioned was shaped by their own erroneous perception of the direction of the wind. The other I.N.D.I.A. groups made few or no attempts to get the satraps to agree to their demands for a few seats. Rather, Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), had to endure a sour public feud with Kamal Nath, the chief of the Congress in the state.
This is also the fault of the party’s central leadership, which did not confront the state units with a firm message and refute the notion that the Congress was acting haughtily. Whether or not the Congress’s chances were harmed by these parties, the bloc now harbours mistrust in front of the pivotal election that takes place in the summer. In exchange, the alliance members Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), which was allotted one seat to contest in Bharatpur, and the CPI, which was granted the seat in Kothagudem, Telangana, were merely defeated by the Congress.
Following its triumph in Karnataka, the Congress held a high position in the ranks of the Opposition, but now it is in the dock due to setbacks in the three states in the Hindi belt. The party’s immediate responsibility is to refocus on the bloc’s collective goal of providing the BJP with a united front if it wants I.N.D.I.A. to succeed.

The bloc’s main task is to formulate a distinct ideological stance and take a calculated approach to the seat-sharing debate. The BJP has gained a significant psychological edge as a result of winning the three states, which is strengthened by Prime Minister Modi’s remarks that a third term for him at the Centre is inevitable.
Only until the party’s common workers are able to set aside past grievances and cooperate for the coalition will the opposition parties to the BJP be able to cooperate and mount a fight. The alliance’s leaders, who are currently perceived to be at odds with one another, will need to provide the narrative for that.The important component of the Opposition’s electoral strategy is the relationship between the Congress and its I.N.D.I.A. partners.
