The Champions Trophy, scheduled to begin in February 2025, will be a significant event for Pakistan, as the country has not hosted any major ICC event since the 1996 ODI World Cup. The ICC is considering three options for hosting the tournament: proceeding as planned in Pakistan, a hybrid model with matches in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), or moving the entire tournament to another country like Dubai, Sri Lanka, or South Africa.
Despite the positive feedback from the ICC, there are still challenges to be addressed, including the uncertainty surrounding India’s participation due to ongoing political tensions between the two nations. The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan was played from December 2012 to January 2013 in India.
The ICC’s satisfaction with PCB’s preparations is a significant milestone for Pakistan cricket, and the upcoming Champions Trophy promises to be an exciting and highly anticipated event for cricket fans worldwide
