In the latest update to the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Test Rankings, India has surged ahead of Australia to claim the number one spot. This comes after India’s historic 3-1 series victory over England earlier this year, which propelled them to the top of the rankings.
India currently sits on top with 123 rating points, followed by New Zealand at second place with 118 rating points. Australia, who were previously at the top of the rankings, have slipped to third place with 113 rating points.

The rankings take into account the results of all Test matches played by each team over the past three to four years, with more recent performances weighted more heavily. India’s recent form in Test cricket has been exceptional, with series victories over Australia, England, and the West Indies.
The top five in the current rankings are rounded out by England and South Africa in fourth and fifth place respectively. With the World Test Championship final just around the corner, these rankings will be closely watched by cricket fans around the world.
India will take on New Zealand in the final at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, starting on June 18. The winner of the match will be crowned the first-ever World Test Champions.
