The National Bureau of Statistics of China recently released numbers that indicate the number of deaths annually have outweighted the number of births. The population in China has decreased by 850,000 in the last year and now stands at 1.41 billion. The last time such decline was reported was due to the failure of Mao Zedong’s Great Leap Forward Plan. It led to famines and starvation on a large scale. India has a population of 1.42 billion as recorded on January 18th. According to World Population Report’s predictions, India will remain at the top until 2050 despite slower rate of population growth. While there are many advantages, India might suffer adversity if enough employment opportunities are not generated. More than half of the estimated increase in global population between 2022 and 2050 will be in just eight countries: Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Tanzania.
