Avesh faced Kohli’s wrath once more, as the former India captain clobbered the bowler for three boundaries in the fourth over Kohli, full of confidence, then pushed Krunal Pandya over the fence in the next over.
Kohli was at his best, hitting a boundary over Mark Wood’s head and then pulling the bowler over deep midwicket for a maximum. Kohli reached 50 with a single off Ravi Bishnoi in the ninth over.
On the other hand, RCB captain Faf du Plessis played second fiddle and took his time. While Kohli went hammer and tongs, the South African played with restraint, hitting bad deliveries to the fence.
Kohli was finally removed from the game in the 12th over, when he dragged Amit Mishra to Marcus Stoinis at square leg. While Du Plessis struggled to get going, Glenn Maxwell (59 off 29 balls) made his presence known at the crease with a four and six off Mishra.
As RCB raced to 137 for one, Du Plessis opened with three huge hits over the fence off Bishnoi in the 15th over. Du Plessis, who started slowly, reached fifty with a fantastic lofted shot over Wood’s head.
Maxwell proved his worth by going after the bowlers right away. But it was Du Plessis at the end who went hammer and tongs, clobbering every LSG bowler out of the park.
The 18th over from Jaydev Unadkat yielded 23 runs for RCB, with Du Plessis hitting sixes and fours.
