IPL 2023, RR Vs SRH: Abdul Samad’s Last-Over Heroics Give SRH A 4-Wicket Win Over RR
In the latest news from IPL 2023, Abdul Samad’s heroics in the last over helped Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secure a thrilling 4-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday.
Chasing a target of 175, SRH got off to a solid start, thanks to opener David Warner’s quickfire 44 off 25 balls. However, the middle-order failed to capitalize on the good start, and at one stage, SRH were struggling at 134-6 in the 18th over.

With 41 runs required off the last two overs, it looked like the game was slipping away from SRH. But then came Abdul Samad, who smashed 28 runs off just 10 balls to take his team over the line with a ball to spare.
Samad hit three sixes in the 19th over bowled by Kartik Tyagi, taking 21 runs off the over, and then hit another six off the first ball of the last over bowled by Chris Morris. SRH needed just four runs off the last over, and Samad finished the game in style, hitting a boundary off the second ball of the over.
Earlier, RR had posted a competitive total of 174-6 in their 20 overs, thanks to Sanju Samson’s brilliant knock of 84 off 49 balls. But it wasn’t enough as SRH held their nerve in the end to register their second win of the season.
With this win, SRH move up to sixth place in the points table, while RR remain in eighth place with just one win from their six games.
Abdul Samad was named the player of the match for his match-winning knock, and he said after the game, I just wanted to back myself and play my natural game. I’m glad it came off today, and I’m happy that I could contribute to the team’s win.
The next game in IPL 2023 will see Kolkata Knight Riders take on Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens on Saturday.
