Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated on Sunday that China is prepared to work with India for the steady and sound growth of bilateral relations and that the two countries are dedicated to upholding stability at the border areas in his first remarks following the most recent round of talks between Indian and Chinese military commanders.
His remarks come days after Indian and Chinese military commanders held new negotiations on December 20 to resolve outstanding problems along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. These negotiations were the first high-level negotiations since December 9 fighting between the two sides’ troops in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. After Chinese incursions at various sites weeks earlier, Indian and Chinese troops disengaged in the Gogra-Hot Spring region in September, the last of the acknowledged friction areas that were negotiated over 16 rounds of Corps Commander level talks that began in June 2020.Chinese invasions in Demchok, the presence of Chinese forces in Depsang, and the rapid construction of Chinese infrastructure in Ladakh, including two bridges over Pangong Tso that will shorten Chinese mobilisation time on the lake’s southern bank, all continue to cause tensions. So what do you think? Is China again sugarcoating? Do they really wanted to have ties with India?
