In a landmark decision on June 25, 2024, Israel’s High Court ruled that ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) men must be drafted into the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). This ruling declared the existing law, which provided exemptions for most ultra-Orthodox men from military service, unconstitutional.
