In an interview with ABC News in March 2021, President Biden stated that he planned to run for re-election in 2024 but added that he did not have any plans to announce his candidacy at that time. He also said that his focus at that point was on fulfilling his promises to the American people and addressing the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the economy.
In recent years, U.S. presidents have typically announced their re-election campaigns during their third year in office. For example, former President Barack Obama announced his re-election campaign in April 2011, while former President Donald Trump announced his campaign for re-election in June 2019.
As of my knowledge cutoff, there had been no official statement from the Biden administration regarding the president’s plans for the 2024 election. However, it is likely that President Biden will address this issue at some point in the future, particularly as the 2024 election draws closer.
