While some believe his inclusion in the squad will make India’s pace department more versatile, others are perplexed as to why he was chosen over someone like T Natarajan, who India sorely missed at last year’s T20 World Cup.
Natarajan may not be as fast as Bumrah, but he is known for his toe-crushing yorkers and slower variations. Replacing your pace attack’s leader is a difficult task for any team, but Natarajan was the bowler who could have been Bumrah’s like-for-like replacement.

While criticizing the BCCI, a few fans presented facts to back up their claims. Natarajan was India’s standout bowler during the last T20I series in Australia. In addition, he led the wickets column with six wickets in three matches. Natarajan was so impressive that Hardik Pandya awarded him Player of the Series.
Not to mention that this was Natarajan’s debut series, but he played as if he had been playing international cricket for years.
