Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticized the Uttar Pradesh government’s preparations for the upcoming Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, scheduled for early 2025. He labeled the event as a “model of government mismanagement,” expressing concerns over delayed security arrangements and inadequate infrastructure development.

Yadav highlighted that essential facilities, such as the Senior Superintendent of Police’s office and watchtowers for crowd monitoring, remain incomplete. He warned that hasty, last-minute completions could compromise security during the event.

Additionally, Yadav pointed out the government’s promptness in removing a statue of Emperor Harshavardhan in Prayagraj, questioning why similar urgency isn’t applied to administrative preparations for the Maha Kumbh.

Offering assistance, Yadav stated that if the government and administration have failed in their preparations, the Samajwadi Party is ready to deploy dedicated workers to help ensure the event’s success.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, is a significant Hindu pilgrimage attracting millions of devotees. Yadav’s critique underscores the importance of thorough planning and timely execution to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees.

As the event approaches, the Uttar Pradesh government faces increased pressure to address these concerns and ensure that all necessary preparations are completed efficiently.
